The Presses are grinding to HALT!

Soon, writers will earn 50% commission on eBook sales.

For the last 100 years, publishing firms have managed to protect huge profit margins by controlling book distribution, and writers works. This was done through controlling the lithography process which allowed publishers to reduce costs of each book sold, when printing lots of books. This was called gang run printing via one print run. Writers simply couldn't gain this advantage through self publishing, nor handle the required marketing to sell books themselves.

As publishers now realize many people are beginning to read digital books, they are striking deals with eBook manufacturers to continue to protect their domination over the publishing industry. There are a couple of things they've left out:

The Writers! And how people use the Internet.

If Publishers act the same in the digital realm as as they did in the paper realm, writers can expect the same. They'll continue to get low commission rates on books sold.

Publishers have another problem. It's difficult to control peoples activity on the Internet. This is why publishers are working so hard to strike alliances with eBook manufacturers, to control any loss of profit margin when converting their paper business to digital. Digital Z, a soon to be writers community, and eBookstore, can easily trump their model. We can distribute digital content just as good and for as less cost as they can, plus pay writers more money. And even sell books for less. All writers and computer users know digital content can be formatted in a manner that will meet many distribution models, not be locked to any one device that only adds costs for the consumer.

Digital Z will make sense to all writers and readers,

Since we too are: writers, designers, video producers, and marketing professionals, we feel there's a better business model for us and for book buyers. As the photo-composition industry ended the linotype machine, and as graphics software ended the cut and paste industry, the Internet will end traditional book publishing, especially if people want to read their content on a computer. Universities are heading in that direction already. Newspapers are closing their doors if this is an indication of how things will play out.

Soon, authors and writers will be able to earn 50% commission for each eBook sold, right here at Digital Z. And, eBook buyers will get books for less. A win win for writers and readers.

For our model to work, it's going to take content; and, a community of writers. So we are asking fellow writers for your help....
