The Presses are grinding to A HALT! Soon, writers will earn 50%
commission on eBook sales. For the last 100 years, publishing firms
have managed to protect huge profit margins by controlling book
distribution, and writers works. This was done through controlling the
lithography process which allowed publishers to reduce costs of each
book sold, when printing lots of books.
This was called gang run
printing via one print run. Writers simply couldn't gain this advantage
through self publishing, nor handle the required marketing to sell
books themselves. As publishers now realize many people are beginning
to read digital books, they are striking deals with eBook manufacturers
to continue to protect their domination over the publishing industry.
There are a couple of things they've left out: The Writers! And how
people use the Internet.
